RUGERNINER? QUESTION

n/an/a Member Posts: 168,427
edited August 2002 in General Discussion
BlackRoses went to our Monday Wholesale Flea Market this morning and came home with two guns,

She thought I would be mad at her because some guy told her she paid too much for the two.. She paid 265.00 for the pair.

Not being a RUGER man I dont know. one is an SP101 .38, and the other is a pre Mark 1, Target Pistol

The SP101 is new in box with all papers, and the Target pistol is 98 % with no rub marks or anything.

DID she pay too much? Here are a couple pics.

Sorry but I couldnot help myself on this one, cant wait until Ruger niner sees this. You better run and give Blackroses a big hug and thank her.I cant believe this, the SP101 retails for $359.00 and I would have to check the book on the pre MK1 as it has collectors value. She must have charmed that guy out of his mind.If you guys ever come to VA.I sure would like her to shop for me.What a Buy!

    Best!!

greetings, classic' i like rugster couldn't help but but in. the mk 1 is indead a classic. you don't see them to much in gun shows or auctions, from the pic you have a $350+ item. the mk2's go for around $200 and the mk1's sometimes twice that or more. respt submitted dads-freehold

I went to the market this morning to look for crystal dolphins.. which I got by the way...and was wandering around looking at the tables.... I wandered to one table where I seen the Ruger target....being nosy by nature.. I asked "How much?"... The guy said 150... I still do not know all about guns, but do know the Ruger name... and figured... what the hey and offered the guy 100 for it... he said yes...
Wandered a bit more... and seen the other one.... again.. same question.... he said 175.... couldnt get him to budge off 165... so I took it as well...
Time for coffee... was drinking it and decided to look again at the guns I had gotten.... A guy asked me what they were, so I told him.. both Rugers... asked me if I minded telling him how much.. told him 265 for the pair... Then he proceeded to tell me I got suckered... paid way too much for them...I got thinking about it, and the more I thought, the more I wished I had not bought them... but a deal is a deal.. all sales final...
I was a bit worried that Classic would be angry.. not for the money spent, but that a couple of guys took advantage of a woman not knowing too much about guns and buying them...Its a woman thing, but I dont want to look stupid in my husband's eyes...
We want them to be proud of us... and I hope he is on this purchase..

Would you like to make a $100 profit?, And do you do custom shopping?.
I have a SP101, And would not take $265 for it alone.

Just so BlackRoses doesn't feel Guilty I'll give you $365.00 for the Pair.

Does that answer your Question? I'm NOT KIDDING.

The List Price from Ruger on the SP101 is $482.00

Thanks Ruger... Next time I buy a gun or two... I will go with my "gut" as I did today....and not let a guy (probably jealous over my deal)... get to me...
Looking forward o firing both of them at the range....

One other thing about that Mark 1, I can't tell from the picture but if it's got a 5.25 inch tapered barrel you can add 100% to the value!! GHD

GHD or RUGERNINER, If you measure from the bullet chamber out, its 5 and 1/4. If you include the chamber its 6 inches.

BlackRoses did some checking on the net for serial numbers, tracked it to 1959 - 1960. It is a pre Mark 1 or STANDARD PISTOL I guess. Its not a Mark 1 or 2. Only has RUGER Automatic Pistol on the barrel

    Any ideas on value?

Ok, now exactly where is this Wholesale Flea Market?!?

Although with prices like that, I probably wouldn't buy...being afraid the sellers were trying to dump stolen merchandise on me!

Is that the factory hammer on the SP101 or did someone take a file to it? (If it only fires double-action, it's factory; if you can grab the hammer and cock it, then fire single-action, someone just filed the spur off it.)

Factory hammer.... and around here.. you can get some really great deals without worrrying if the gun is stolen....The flea market I went too is about an hour from us.... and is huge... the front is all wholesalers and the back field is flea market....If you start at 7 a.m you still wont see all of it by the time they leave...around 1 pm..Its well worth the drive

Still waiting for someone to give any idea on value on the target pistol... *LOL
