Okay guys I know that ignorance is not an excuse but I didnt know that if you bought a rifle or a handgun off of a private seller that when you went too register it it is (A) $30.00 (B) gets held for ten days still. And (C) Both parties have too be present at the time of transfer.... Heres where I ask some questions. I heard through the grapevine that I really dont have too register them... Is this true. I have 2 guns recently purchased. Niether are going on a ccw so do I need too register? They will probably be used for hunting.

jastr-- What state do you live in? There may be some state laws that require what you describe.

CA state law requires FFL transfer even in the case of a private party sale.

Yep..they're not going to be cheated out of their $14 bucks. Then, I believe the FFL dealer of your choice can charge you for the transaction.

"Transfer or sale of all firearms must be processed with a California gun dealer's license. An application for transfer must be made with the gun dealer before any firearm may be sold or transferred. This application contains a description of the buyer or transferee and of the firearm. A copy is sent by the dealer to the California Department of Justice and the local police chief or sheriff. The dealer may be charged a fee up to $14 by the Department of Justice. If the Department of Justice determines that the buyer or transferee is not eligible to possess a firearm, they shall notify the dealer immediately. There is a 10-day waiting period before delivery of any firearm. Dealers must keep a register of all firearm transfers. A person under restraining order may not acquire any firearm."

Your rifles will not be registered as of yet, only handguns. The DROS form is only a transaction record, or so they say. Come 2003 we all have to register all handguns, even the ones you had before the law took effect, so no more grandfather clause. This place is so un-Constitutional that I could cry somedays. I just bought yet another Glock, yes those ugly guns that shoot good, and have to wait ten days until the 28th, how crappy.

On top of that you have to buy an approved gun lock for each of them.

California, Americas first socialist state, Gray Davis is the Czar and Diane Feinstein the Chief Executive of the Krimlin. Why don't they just succede from the Union. We can have a political refugee exchange and give them all the liberals, communists and socialists and they can send the Americans back to America.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

When are you Kalifornians going to wake up and change your Govt and/or move out? Can anyone say "incrimentalism".
