The baby is going to be fine. The hospital is going to monitor her for a day or so for posible infections from the water in her lungs but otherwise she is fine.
The department of children and families is investigating. As they always do here in Florida when stuff like this happens.

Was working at my computer when my wife heard someone screamming for help. Went outside and my neighbor was in hysterics,a realitives of theirs small baby was found floating in the pool. I ran inside as helped as best I could untill the paramedics arrived. Baby was breathing when they took her away.

Neighbors didnt have a clue what to do except sream for help, hadnt even called 911, my wife did that.

Kinda shook up right now.

Funny thing is I have 2 kids (5 and 2) and no gate on the deck to my pool. Of course, its in the back yard with my chows, and I've always figured that the chows would be more dangerous than the pool. So no gate on the pool, but double dead bolts on the 3 doors that lead out back, and the side gates are chained and padlocked. Makes it a pain to go out for me, but hey, at least no major cosmetic surguery or gettin wet to worry about...

...sad adults don't watch out for the young'ns. At MINIMUM, everyone can get a pool alarm, best a fence...and SUPERVISION...how much is your's, or another child's life worth? Little ones need to be watched, close. Sounds like the baby and family were lucky ya'll were home...[;)]

I remember seeing an interview with an obviously intoxicated Lee Marvin back in the 60's.

Marvin, who was a Marine during WWII, was seriously wounded at Saipan and, when pressed, described lying alone for many hours before assistance reached him. He stated this is where he learned that yelling for help is the most useless activity in the world when there's no one there to hear you.

Good thing your neighbors had someone there.

Used to do a little life guarding for the State Beaches here years ago.

We were once told something that I never forgot - and later verified
if just in case the gal was mistaken. She wasn't.

You might want to pass it around to your friends with pools.

Some kids who fall into pools drown EVEN IF THEY KNOW HOW TO
    SWIM!

Someone looked into it about 20 years ago and found that when fully
clothed, kids often are so shocked at falling into the water, dressed,
they take a sudden breath from amazement and surprise! If their
mouth happens to be below their waterline they take in two lungs
of water and pass out immediately!

Today, many kids are recalled to the pools AFTER they've completed the
YMCA Red Cross swimming lessons and are thrown into the pool fully
dressed. Apparently, once 'inoculated' the kids are 'immune' to that
    first time shock syndrome.

    Interesting. [:D]

zipperzap: When my wife worked as a Lifeguard in Indianapolis, one of her graduation requirements for the little ones was that they had to jump into the pool fully clothed and swim out.

The biggest concern they expressed was losing their shoes. She told them, "Your mommy can always buy new shoes, but she can't buy a new you." They understood.
