About two years ago I read on a site that President George Washington was opposed to naming the future capital after him. Since then, I have lost this information. I have about 5 or 6 books on Washington at home and have found mention of the debate over where and what to call the city. But I can find nothing on what Washington wanted it called. I have a feeling that maybe he didn't want it named after him. I have no doubt that were he alive today, he would be the first to introduce a bill to change the name back to Federal City or something less positive. When I see him someday I'll ask him. But for now...
