Lost an old friend yesterday

Got a call from a friend yesterday. An old friend from way back had been out for a ride on his motorcycle in the country. Crashed his bike and did not survive. No one else involved so we will probably never know exactly what happened.
He was one of those people that I had gradualy lost contact over the years because our lives just went in different directions. No problems or disagreements, just the way life works.
Been thinking about some of the crazy stupid stuff we did together in our youth. Had a very personal question I always wanted to ask him about and never got arround to. One of those things that might have been an intrusion 40 years ago, but would probably not have been at this late date.
I guess my point is to call or visit that old friend today, while you still can.
I am going to make a call to another old friend tomorrow who is halfway across the country to let him know that our old drag racing buddy is no longer with us.
