I could use some help.

I have applied for a loan on Prosper.com and could use some letters of referance.

For those who do not know about Prosper.com it is just like an auction site were people bid on loaning you money by amount and interest rate.

The reason I need this is due to my credit being in the poor range from all the crap my ex ran up while we were married which I am trying to pay off (I have been offered a reduced rate of pay off) so I can get my credit back in order.

If you are willing to write a letter of refferance for me shoot me an email and I'll send you a link to register and write the letter which will be added to my profile.

Thanks.

I'd be careful about who you have send financial 'letters of
reference.' I'd imagine there are more than a few here who
would be the last nails in your 'loan coffin' - especially
if their credit is checked out.

    Good luck.

Their credit does not need to be checked to give a letter of reference on that site. It is just to give those who are bidding on loaning you money an idea of charector.

    I second what Zipper said.
Think of all the spammers and scam artist that hit this site every day. Any one of them or any one on this board could do you a world of hurt as a character reference. Just because you have been here awhile and have met a few good people. Can you honestly say that you know 90% of the ones that post here?

What if I went on that site and wrote that *_r_done tried to seduce some of my domesticated farm animals while he visited me one hunting season? People could say anything just for the heck of it.

I can see what you are getting at. But I am not going to give the link to someone that I would not give my home phone too either. That is why I asked to shoot me an email and that way I would know who I am letting know were to do this at.

There are several people on this forum that I have met face to face and several more that I have talked with on the phone several times, and many more that I have had email conversations with. These are the types I am looking for to help me out with this because I can trust them.

I should also add that the loan amount that I aplied for is relitivly small ($2250) but being on a set income makes it tuff to just plunk all that out at one time to pay this off.

But they offered me that to pay off a $6500 debt that my exwife ran up before our divorce was final and I have gotten stuck with. I have been paying on it a little at a time but would like to have it paid in full so I can work on the rebuilding of my credit again.

I just found found out that a person cannot put down anything bad on the reference letter as I have to approve the letter before it is published.[;)]

FYI: I used to manage a small credit company called Security Finance, I can tell you that if you simply pay off the loan to a creditor who has more then likely charged off the unsecured debt after three to six months, then they have NO reson to improve your credit score and will feel completely justified in leaving it I-9. On the other hand if you owe me 6K of debt that I charged off, then anything you pay me goes back into the office as a collection and is pure profit. ( Some less then scroupulous lenders will use this cash to "move" accounts monthly to improve thier collection ratio and possibly bonus etc) If you tell them you would be willing to pay .50 cents on the dollar to remove the blight and pay off the debt it is entirely in thier favor to do so, I often took .50 cents on the dollar as opposed to nothing!

Look into it before going through a third party.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

Last I checked about 3 months ago it was like a 535.

I know that paying this off will not improve it but I do currently have a couple of credit cards that I charge a small amount too every month and pay them off in full which will help.

Also by showing no outstanding balances I will be more likely to get credit.

No matter what it will be a long road to get it all cleared up but I will. I do no want to file bankruptcy due to the fact that I really do not owe that much to warrent that.

I really kinda messed up on this whole deal myself because I did not think they could hold me responseable for her stuff. But I found out I was wrong about that![:(]
