......... in your deer stand ?
First think I think about is putting every bit of crap that is going on in the world, out of my thoughts.
Then I think about where I am and how great it is to be in the woods and thank the Good Lord for it.
Then I think about the BIG buck that will be coming by at any second.
After that, I think about what my next gun is going to be.
This year, I thought, that I need a .300 Blackout and another .44 Special.

I also range different landmarks.
I usually let my mind wander about.
Thinking about nothing of any importance.
Just enjoying nature.
I hunt with a flintlock Kentucky rifle most of the time. Once in a while I may carry one of those modern percussion jobs![8D]
After a long time goes by, I start seeing branches and stumps with antlers! By then I know it is time to take a walk and get my eyes readjusted.
Peace
Dan
i often wondered how a chipmunk could sound like a deer better than a deer could.

I kind of do the same as you about clearing my mind of all of life's problems. I also like to just sit and admire the rifle I decide to carry that day.

That is awesome, Brookwood. Good on you, Sir
So I think about where my next step should go in order to be as silent as possible.
Pause. Look around.
Repeat until either a deer is sighted or daylight runs out.
Where I do most of my deer hunting:
I try to sleep
Same her last weekend 23 degrees and wind gusts between 25 - 35 miles an hour. Was sitting in front of a small pine tree. A couple of hours later I was inside of it just trying to do that.
