...KEEP THE MONEY OR TURN IT IN IF THIS SITUATION EVER HAPPENS TO YOU?

GRINNELL, Iowa - Cars on both sides of Interstate 80 stopped to weather a swirling blizzard, but it wasn't snow. It was cash.

An eastbound armored truck somehow lost its load Tuesday night, sending money into the wind. Cars in both lanes stopped and tried to help recover the money.

The truck crew realized the money was missing near a rest stop, said Lt. Rob Hansen, a spokesman for the Iowa State Patrol.

"They knew they lost it and stopped immediately and attempted to retrieve it," Hansen said. "They don't know how or why (it was lost)."

Officers stopped three cars east of the cash spill and authorities were investigating whether the occupants had taken some of the money.

"Some folks ... attempted to benefit from the situation," Hansen said.

Hansen could not say whether the loss was part of a robbery or some other attempt to take money from the armored truck.

"To my knowledge this was the loss of property of no one's overt attempt," he said.

Hansen said the money in the area has been cleaned up.

"There is no reason for anybody to head out there," he said.

Over the weekend I was told that a guy got robbed at gunpoint where my ex-wife lives. A guy was going to the gym to workout at 6 p.m. and heard someone behind him so he turned around to find a gun in his face. He reached in his pocket to get his wallet to give to the BG who in turn took the money out of the wallet and handed the wallet back and ran off.

I though a lot about this over the weekend and wondered how I would have responded. Who would hand over the wallet to avoid further conflict, and who would say they were getting the wallet and instead get there weapon?

If you do get your gun, does it come out firing or do you give the BG a chance to leave?

Buy a few cars, a small yacht, a small jet, buy some nice property and build a house. Put 10 million in the bank to live off the interest. Buy a few miscellaneous things(guns, ammo, etc...), prepay my kids' college. Put 5 million in a trust fund for each of my kids that they don't know about and can't touch till I am gone or they turn 55. I would give my mom and dad $10 million, pay off my brother's house and car give my sister $10 million, donate $15 million to several charities. My wife and I would go on vacation everytime the kids were not in school.

Retire to the caribbean, buy a beach front hotel, bar/grill and a boat. Run chartered tours and spend the rest of my time fishing.

yes our tax system does suck. If you win the lotto here they take out 28% before you get your check, and then at the end of the year you likely will still owe more taxes if it was a big win, up to 50% I think.

buy an island in the carribean. its not as expensive as you'd think. a five acre undeveloped island can be had for <2 million.

the expensive part is the construction and infrastructure. everything would have to be delivered by sea($$$$$). but id own an island.

buy a yacht to move between island and mainland and to travel on.

staff my island. nothing dramatic, but a id need at the minimum a year round live in grounds keeper, a maid, a manservant type character.

buy a few hundred acres in the states in a free state. construct a 1,000 yard range and hire a marksmanship expert to teach me the ways.

build an indoor pistol range and hire an expert to show me how its done.

build a vault similar to the one that is frequently(and inaccurately) attributed to charlton heston. and then spend a few years filling it up.

    a few cars/trucks/bikes of course.

send a few bucks overseas to a bank that will give me a real interest rate and live off the interest.

of course, all of this depends on the amount i won, after taxes. these are my dreams for the big one, taking home 200 million plus. if the end figure ended up being 50 million, i could still do most of what i want, id just have to be a little more methodical about the order. let some serious interest pile up and then tackle a line item. rinse and repeat.

First thing is start an LLC and claim the ticket in that. Take the 20 year payout; get all the money you won.

Buy a place in the mountains in elk country; apply for grants to operate a summer camp for disadvantaged kids, hire only college girls as camp counselors. Write off as much as you can. Then when fall comes around operate a hunting lodge. Do the same thing in other parts of the country, waterfowl, fishing, etc.

Hunt everywhere you could, around the globe, should be able to go about year round.

Not that I gave it much thought.

    KC

Not that I've thought about it much.

I would pay myself and my good friends and family members out of debt

I would offer jobs to my closest friends and family and we would go hunting/fishing/horseback riding/ATV riding/gun shopping/NASCAR racing and whatever-else they wanted to do

I would start a mission out reach and teach people about the BIBLE

I would also take a leave of absence from work

    I would buy some land

I would make sure I put some wealth in a safe form for the future

at least that would be a good start I'm sure things would be different if it really happen but right now I think this is what I would do [;)]
