Stock for 1903 Springfield

I have a sporterized 1903A3 in 30-06. It has a real nice wood stock, Monte Carlo, nice recoil pad etc, but the thing is HEAVY! Does anyone know if someone makes a synthetic stock I could get for it? I'd like to be able to float the barrel, and any other thing anyone could tell me about to help increase accuracy. I know the orginal military ones were very accurate, and not sure how this wood stock affects distance shooting. I'd really like to turn it into a distance rifle, and right now you can't slip a dollar bill in between the barrel and stock past the first few inches, plus I'd like to lighten it up a tad.
Anyone have a direction to go on this one?
Also a plus: any help on shooting 500 to 800 yards would be good, too [:D]

If you have access to a router it would make doing the forearm easier. Just rout out a half inch channel the length of the forearm. For the butt just drill a couple of holes under the recoil pad. To put strength back into the forearm you could AcraGlass an aluminum tube into place. Float the barrel when you're done and seal the wood with a quality finnish.
If you're careful how much wood you remove you could balance it while yer at it.
