A little more than a bundle of 2x4's. The own 6.8 million acres in 19 different states and have numerous saw mills. Plum Creek is the largest and most geographically diverse private landowner in the nation.
    Here is the web site

    http://www.plumcreek.com/

I wish I would have bought stock in them 10 years ago when the bought out the Georgia-Pacific mill here locally. A friend of mine logged for them and loved it. They sold that mill, I believe to a West Virginia company AWP- Allegheny Wood Products and he went to work elsewhere.

you miss the point.....market cap is the number that tells you the total worth of the company....

    Plum creek MKT Cap 6.70B

    General motors MKT CAP 49.88B

GM is worth 7 times Plum creek!!!

Share price has a lot of factors...like the number of shares!!!!!!!

    Plum Creek Avg Vol 1484000

    General Motors Avg Vol 17692000

Dont know the total of outstanding shares for Plum Creek, but Im pretty sure there is not as many as GM!!!!!

Thats why the price is higher PER SHARE, not as many to be had, so the price is higher!!!

Market Cap is the size of a publically traded company & an estimate of it's worth. The book value can be different.

So you are saying that if you were flat broke of hard cash and had 50,000 shares of stock in a company.

You would rather that stock to be in General Motors that sold for $31.25 a share over a lumber companies that sold for 41.44?

    Obamanonics at work.

Book value of GM is the sum of the money stolen by Obama from the rightful GM stockholders and given to the Unions for supporting his Socialist causes.
