It is just not another federal holiday for banking and government employees. What do you do? How do you remember those who gave all? What do you do for those willing to give all?

He enlisted my brother and myself to build a connecting brick walkway from the main building to a peaceful "patio" area. After Bro and I finished laying the walkway and patio, a memorial stone company delivered and installed a granite monument with five beautiful brass plaques honoring each service. They donated two granite benches to complete the project.
Each Memorial Day the town honors their vets with wreath layings, Pipers and speeches of thanks. My Dad has left a fine legacy in that little place of honor. That's how that whole generation is; not looking for thanks or pats on the back...just looking for ways to be productive...to give more than they take...to leave the place they are, better than it was.
So with that I say thanks Dad, thanks to all the vets his spirit represents.
Your dad sounds like a real good guy. And what you said about that generation is true to the word. If only folks today were more like they were back then. But give your dad a pat on the back for me.
Tomorrow we have brunch on the deck for all that come to say hello on their way to the Vets club just around the corner. At 9:00 am the city has a parade ending at the unknowen soilders grave site, 21 gun salute and all.Real nice and gets the day off on the right foot.
Back to the deck for barbi-Q with all the trimmings, the whole family gathers round untill dark.
May God Bless all the fallen comrades and Vets that are home, and watch over our boys in the middle east.
