License stickers for windshield

Is it just New York state stickers that won't stick more than a month or two without falling off? We are the second highest taxed state in the union,it seems that if the inspection sticker is so hard to get off when needing to be changed that the state license should be able to hold up also.
The law reads: you cant use tape or glue to hold it in place? But if it falls off you will be stopped by smokey in a NY minute.
Is this a problem in any other states? I cant wait to move to Nevada.

Inspection sticker????....what the....is an inspection sticker?

Heh....just kidding, I had to deal with that when I was stationed in Hawaii....its just some silly extra way for "them" to get a buck and have another way to control things.

They don't have those here in Alabama. I think you have to be spewing a smoke cloud that actually KILLS someone before they will stop the car/truck.

They dont have inspection stickers in Arkansas anymore either. They decided that the inspection places were either too easy on violations or took money to look the other way so they just scrapped the whole program several years ago.

I would think that in Hawaii a mandatory inspection would make some sense. Hawaii is obviously more wet than most parts in the US, wet + steel = rust.

I don't claim to be familiar with the type of inspection carried out in states which have them, but I am familiar with the German auto inspection. In Germany they mainly check for body problems in the car, significant corrosion will cause the vehicle to flunk the test and be deemed undrivable. My understanding is that the Germans have two reasons for this:
    1. climate is very rust-friendly
    2. At Autobahn speeds, one cannot afford to have a car drop parts on the road, it will surely mean casualties.

Of course if this is only an emission inspection, it does not make sense. There are like 100000 trees for every car in Hawaii (so I'm exagerrating a little), pollution should not be that big a concern.

The roads are so crowded in Hawaii...the traffic is REALY bad at times. From what I remember...the sticker checked an all over "condition" of the car...emissions, lights, etc. I think this was to keep the junkers off of the road...more than the environment.

The strange thing about the sticker there was.....you HAD to have a current tag to get the sticker and you couldn't get the sticker without a current tag. You had to go back and forth with "temporary documents" to get everything done. I felt like I was trying to play out the chicken and the egg joke.

I need help with my English comprehension. Doesn't that say the exact same thing? A current tag is required to get you a sticker?

...Fall Off? [:0] [:D] Here your inspection and registration stickers must have freakin epoxy on 'em. Single edge razor AND lacquer thinner or other "hot" chemical to get the mothers off...[xx(]

A..."tag"...is the big rectangular metal plate usually found at the back of a car that is used for registration of vehicles.

A..."sticker"...is a little floppy piece of rubber that has some kind of goo on it that makes it stick to things.....some states have "stickers" that are required to be placed on automobiles showing the driver has jumped through all of the required hoops to be able to drive around.

NO....a sticker is NOT a tag....and it is NOT the same thing.

With that cleared up - it's still going to fall off, you're going to get a ticket and a new sticker or tag to place on your car.

The sticker he is talking about is the yearly sticker you place on your tag. Most states do not issue tags every year but rather a Year sticker to place on it. Jeeze. Don

    Sorry about the mix up.
In NY state we have inspection stickers, they stay on real good,in fact I ran a glass shop and they do not come off easy.
New Yorkers also have a registration sticker that has to stick on the windshield, the glue is poorly made and wont stay on for very long.
I was looking for other people that might have similar problems.
Moving out of this stinkin state is in the cross hairs.[:)]
