Rental Guns

I love rental guns. The best profit a range has. I'm cleaning a Glock 19 and just checked and it's been rented 400 times @ $10.00 each. Add in at least one box of ammo and that's not too bad for a gun that I think cost around $300.00 on my Glock rental program two years ago.

Really? Around here the ranges let you "rent" any used firearm they have for sale and all they charge you is what the cost of the ammo to use it, and not at a inflated price. They sell more guns that way by "renting" them out and people falling in love with them and wanting to take them home with them.

Two years to yield 100 dollars? And what is the depreciation over that time?
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Check your math. That's 4000.00 that that little Glock has brought in in rentals alone, not including profit on ammo sales.

    400x10 is $4000 not $400[;)]

[B)] Clearly I should read with my glasses on. I could have sworn he wrote 40. Ok yeah, that's a much better prospect.[:D][:D]

And the best part is in a couple more years I will apply the brown water based protective coating (well it may be hard to get a Glock to corrode) and sell it to 84Bravo1.[:D][}:)][:o)][:D][:0]

It's nice you do clean them once in a while as lots of ranges don't around here.[xx(]

You deserve it; you've got lots of expenses. It's no different from a hospital's $10 aspirin tablet; the only thing that counts is the bottom line.

Could you please give us a list of things you have designed...and whether you had your glasses or not when you worked on each of them?

Just out of pure curiosity, of course. [;)][8D][:D]

    Clean a rental gun?
    Why?
It costs you time and money to do that, plus the gun is out of service while being cleaned and might miss a rental.
A range I know, only cleans their rental guns when they stop working.
Some of their stainless revolvers look like they are black.

We run about sixty rental guns and some get cleaned more than others. The small 9 mm and .380 guns as well as the 1911's and revolvers won't run as dirty as the Glocks and Sigs. We have Ar's in 9mm and .223 as well as a Kriss in .45acp. and a FN PS90 in 5.7 and they seem to run well very dirty. We use rental guns for demos to sell new guns so we try to keep them all in good shape and looking good.quote:Originally posted by john carr
