VW ads: Do they bother you?

MSNBC has a story <http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12694352/> about the new VW Jetta ads showing crashes and touting Jetta safety. The story says the ads are breaking TV taboos. Is anyone shocked or bothered by these ads? Good gosh, after viewing ads showing every other thing imaginable, I guess I'm not shocked by an ad touting safe vehicles. Are you? And what types of ads DO shock or offend you?

"I am Dieter, and now is the time on GB when we dance...."
That does neither.
I like the new ads, they have that curiously German humor. Reminds me of the Saurday Night Live skit called Sprocketts..
"I am Dieter, and now is the time on GB when we dance...."
"German engineering in the house!" <Flash VW gang sign>
... The Vonage ads with the Woo Woo in the background will keep me from ever using Vonage, even if they are the only cell phone out there.
Amen Brother! That one really annoys me. I'd never use Vonage because of the commercial.
For my wife, it's the SciFi channel commercial where the guy is blowing into the dog's butt, and the dog blows up like a balloon. She absolutely HATES that one!
guy engineer-"its a 98 vhatchamacallit"
girl engineer- "you get an F"
"you know vhat time it is, time to unpimp ze auto"
It really isn't anything different from the movies. What's funny, however, is that one of the crash ads shows government star ratings. I think the front-end star rating for a Jetta is 4 -- not that impressive to be bragging about when there are plenty of 5-star cars out there in the same price range. VW stopped the front-end crash shortly thereafter and went to the side-impact commercials, because they could brag about a 5-star side-impact rating.
nothing will ever top the quiznos add with the little monkeys singing
Oh I hated those. The best Quiznos commercials were from the "Unfair Advantage" campaign, which just preceeded the monkey/mouse singing ones.
To be fair, the "Unfair Advantage" campaign was much funnier on the radio than on TV, which is why it may have ended.
Imagine this....
You see an extreme closeup of a boy with a few little red dots on his face - screaming and crying. That goes on for 3 seconds.
Then the angle gets wider and the kid moves away from you - you see more and more.
You see he's strapped into a kids carseat.
Now there are shards of glass covering his clothes - still he's crying and screaming like you never want to hear in your life.
As the camera moves out - you see the sides of each front seat.. at first it doesn't seem that there are anyone in those seats.
Still the kid is screaming heartbreakingly..
At last, you see the parent - covered in blood - motionless, head out the window or where the window used to be - it's shattered and that's what also covered the kid.
The parent is motionless - kid still screaming and calling out for the parent.
As you get the whole picture, you realize the parent is killed in a carcrash - the kid survived, hurt, seems alone and no help is there.
It holds like that for quite a few seconds...
Then.... "Remember your seatbelt - it saves lives."
I don't think that's over the top - I've seen worse.
That ad is nothing compared to some of the ads we get..

Haven't even turned mine on in at least three months.
Enjoy!
