HUH? Dicks had buy one get one 50% off, limit 6. You could have got more rounds at Dicks and at a lower per rd cost then at Academy.

I know many places will not let you return ammo after you have bought it... I know Walmart is that way...

My wife also was tracking the price of a flat screen tv for the past two weeks. Best buy raised the price of this particualr tv on Sunday night after closing by $ 200.00 so that on Monday morning, the week of Black Friday, they could mark it down $ 400 and make you think you were getting a GREAT deal.....I am sure other stores do the same thing.... Second box is half price but the first box now costs you 40 percent more or something like that....

Look at everything you buy now - if the price has not changed in mist cases the size or volume has been reduced or if the size or volume remained the same the price has gone UP..

Guys - Check your local WalMart for a 200 round value pack of Federal 52gr HP for $76.66 a box... Some carry these boxes some do not but the local one here does and it is GREAT ammo for this price... Their price started at $ 36.88 on this box about 5 months ago and has now gone up to $76.66 but that is stilla grat price. I buy a box every time I go in when thay have it in stock....

Walmart is 19.95 for 1 box of 100 rounds. Dicks is 15.00 for 1 box of 50 rounds and the coupon is buy 1 get the next one half off. It is 22.50 per 100 rounds(2 boxs of 50) not cheaper than Walmart.

Its always good to make friends with employees, they get really good discounts. Of coarse I had a buddy who got fired from best buy because he bought more flat screen TV's than what he made in a year.... ;)

I saved hundreds if not thousands of dollars by not leaving the house today, and the amount of brain cells saved were infinite.

Probably drove 20 miles round trip to get it and cost you $10.00 in gas on top of your "great" prices.. It aint worth it..

Yep, I checked it out too. Local Dicks hardly had anything on the shelves to start with (at opening) and then had predictably jacked up the prices as many have mentioned.

I did buy 3 rounds of six in 7mm mag, .44 mag, and .45-70 lever-revolution. Those were the only ones that were worth it, and even then I'd only rate it as a "pretty good deal." Probably not worth getting up so early for.

I will say this though, at least at Dicks there's usually not the "trample the employee" mentality. Got there about 10 til 5, and the handful of other folks just sat patiently in their cars until the doors opened, and then strolled in. Of course, it was about 20 degrees, so that might have helped. the flyer in todays paper has the 9mm back to 7.98 a box if you buy 10 boxes. had to go by there yesterday, so i checked it out, all ammo was an easy $5 more than usual, maybe they were hoping frenzied black friday shoppers would use that coupon. have to go by there tomorrow so i'll do a pit stop and get a case or two. $8.63 out the door per box is the best i've yet to find.

When I worked at Dick's they had some sort of cute name for every sale. They wanted us to talk them all up and convince the customers this sale was better than that last one, etc, etc. The vast majority of the time they didn't have half of the stuff in the sale flyers. We even told some of our customers that it was a violation of state law to advertise items for sale that you didn't have. They, in turn, notified the state attorney general who sent Dick's a nice little letter. The folks at home office promptly ignored it! When you go to Dick's and they don't have what you're after, remember to get a RAINCHECK!!!!!!!!!!

Its not just Dick's. These sales flyers are printed up six months in advance. The stores can't keep anything on the shelf at regular prices nowadays, what makes you think they'll get the "holy delivery" for the the week of a sale?

I think you need to take a few things into account before you call someone a ripoff because someone else has a better price on the same item.
I'm not familiar w/Dicks. But I am Acadamy. Acadamy is basically a Wal Mart of sporting goods. Huge chain store w/huge in bulk buying power from MFG'ers.
As we all know, the more bulk you buy, the better the price. And therefore the better the savings you can pass to your cutomers to get them in the doors.
Perhaps Dicks can't buy in as much bulk and can't offer prices as low as Acadamy.
