I like that '92. Tell me, are those couple screws replaced? In the photos they look silver.......Thanks!
And do you have the original box? do you know how many times it was fired? I'm sure you don't have any extra magazines though.....[}:)][:D]

Love the 1892 25-20! My mother-in-law has one that has been in her family for a long time...originally belonged to her grandfather, passed to her father, and onto her. She has promised it to me, someday, as long as I stay married to her daughter.

Maybe you should borrow it and forget to return it![;)][:D]

I have always wanted a 25-20 and a 32-20. They are a fun gun to shoot. My father bought both calibers so I guess I will wait until he passes them down to me.[:D] We took his 25-20 to a cowboy action shoot and I won first place with it.Just the look on my dads face was better then the trophy I won. Proud father-son moment.

Regarding the Winchester 1876 auction; looking at picture 3 it looks like the muzzle is showing a relining of the barrel. [?]

Also, looking at pictures 4 and 5, there appears to be a line around the barrel separating two different finishes; just in front of the magazine tube hanger. [?][?] Almost looks like a 3-4 inch section of the barrel was replaced. [:0]

To me, the gun appears to be refinished; wood and metal.

If you can't feel the music; it's only pink noise!

It is definately refinished....the letters show it is not very crisp around the edges and even some of the lettering have been buffed down. You can see in pic 12 really well that the top of the "4" is not there. It is reasonable to expect that anyone looking at this dark black finish and case coloring would know it is not original....especially with the close ups of everything.

That old SxS looks like it would be fun to tinker with. Hmmm.....[8D]

Was at the in-laws this afternoon and checked the serial number on the 25-20, starts with 704xxx. It was prettier than I remembered it. FIL told me a story about how well his FIL (my mother-in-law's father) could shoot that rifle. I know its fairly accurate since the one time I got to shoot it, it made a nice little group @ 50 yards. I only got to shoot about 8-10 rounds through it but those are still some of the most memorable rounds I've ever fired...shooting history.

I think that one has to be the first muzzle loading hammer shotgun that I have dealt with.
