This is one of the ones we drove to Memphis to pick up.

Jimmy looked up where a good bbq place would be to meet....so we made the arrangements. WOW....was that place scary! We looked like three white specks in a mud puddle, every business around looked like something out of a Spike Lee movie. We didn't stick around to see if it really did merit the award they boasted winning on the website "Seventh best BBQ in Memphis."

    Kasey,
That is a work of art. I would think a Winchester letter would be a big help selling a rifle like that.

Looks like too much detail to be factory and the wood looks modern but so far out of my range of knowledge don't pay any attention to my babbling. I still lust after it.

I agree. It looks like a older Doug Turnbull restoration. But I too are no expert , just guessing. I still like it and would like it in my winchester collection.
I would like to see what Bert has to say about it.

I am thinking that the wood looks like it aged a lot better than the metal. Still a beautiful rifle!

That's a beauty! I really like it. Have you contacted Cody for a letter? I would even though I don't think it's factory. The serial number is pretty close to my non factory.engraved 1866!
I would also forward these pictures to Pauline Murelle and see if she can help.

Kasey, I once walked into a BBQ place in a nice neighborhood in Louisville. To my surprise I was the only white face in the place. Oops! Turned out the people were very nice, very friendly and made some world class BBQ. Also told me where I could find some Blues.

Spike Lee was not in sight though...

We were looking for somewhere to meet in Memphis....so Jimmy pulled up barbecue places and looked for the "best" one that was going to be easy to get to. HOLY MESS....this place was award winning, but we weren't thinking about how they give out awards to bbq places. They usually compete at festivals or cook off type competitions....so, who knows WHAT the actual restaurant looks like??? This was not an area you wanted to leave a car load of firearms in your car while you went in and got the award winning meal...no matter how good it might be.

Thank you for pointing out my mistakes guys. It really helps to have you guys go over things and point out what I missed!

Ha ha ha ha ha! I just WISH I were as pretty as some of these rifles I'm dealing with right now. I've passed pretty and we have entered the "battleaxe" phase of life now.

Up the road a little ways from you Kasey, if you ever have to go pick up some guns around Madison-Huntsville. This place was good eat'n, always packed during the lunch hour. We'd hit it maybe 15 minutes ahead of the rush and watch the line grow out into the parking lot.

Love it when a run down wore out looking place turns out to have good food! [:)]
