On line 10A (ethnic group), I get to check "Hispanic".

Now get this: on line 10B (race), I now check "White".

Line 4 of every 4473 prior to 2001 simply left a blank space for the buyer/transferee to enter his/her race. Since there are only a handful of actual races (Caucasian, Negro, Asian, ect.) this was pretty straight forward stuff. In October 2001 the form was changed to allow for ethnicity, including Hispanic/Latino and black/African American. Now it has swung back to race, which are in fact mostly ethnic classifications with a separate ethnic box only for Hispanic or non Hispanic.

It is crazy.

The old 4473 where the buyer entered his/her own race worked just fine for 30 years.

I will never understand the logic behind the changing of the 4473....its not meant to be understood....not by anyone with any kind of common sense anyway.
