We are getting this one ready to go and was curious if you have anything to say about this M1?

Everything seems to be springfield, but I am not familiar with those barrel markings

What other markings are on the barrel? Should be a 3-digit number that refers to the date the barrel was made, for example "9-43", etc. The serial number on the receiver heel puts it at late-December 1942 or early-January 1943.

We took pics of all markings I could find, The only markings on the barrel were underneath the piece of wood in pic 32.

I was wondering the same about the barrel date. The date should be stamped on the barrel under the op rod. If you lock the bolt to the rear, you should see some numbers.

I'm not Mark, but I did sleep in the dumpster behind the Holiday Inn Express last night.

The SN would put production in March 1943. Most small parts (bolt, hammer, TG, op rod, etc) have correct drawing numbers for that SN range. The op rod is uncut, which is desirable. The rear sight is a type 3 lock bar, likely original & very desirable.

The stock has been heavily sanded, but I don't think it is original. I think the receiver, barrel, & gas cylinder have been refinished. I also think the barrel is off of a gas trap rifle, as it should have a 43 date on the side.

The thing I would most like to know is the Muzzle Wear measurement. Use a "poor woman's" MW gauge: a single round of USGI .30-06 M2 ball stuck point first in the muzzle. Knowing that it is a good "shooter", & not shot out, would have a big difference on how much many folks would pay.

Thank you nmyers.....I got a LOT listed today. I didn't have much time to spend on any one particular item. I hope the pictures give the answers people are looking for....I looked up some of the parts and it all seems correct. I was looking for mis-marked parts and if I had seen any I was going to point them out...but everything seems right on this one.
