Has anyone ever used the GunBroker / Fedex shipping on the auction site?
I was wondering how it worked....
Is it expensive?
Will they pick up a firearm from your home?

Around here, from guys I've talked to, you have to take a gun to the distribution center (This is UPS, not fedex) and it depends upon who's working the counter as to whether they will accept the shipment.
I've heard this from several different people over the years.
It's easier to just take it to a FFL for shipping but then it costs $$ since they want a little piece of the pie.
When you sell your item you can go to "my shipping"...."create a shipment" and just enter the customer's FFL number and it will fill in the address for you.
It saves your tracking numbers all there in your Gun Broker account. VERY HANDY!
You can call Fed Ex and have your package picked up at your home or business. (They may require that you set up an actual account with Fed Ex to do this...but it does not actually cost anything.)
What's the best way for handguns?
I'm not a licensee but of course shipments would be to a ffl.
It's my understanding that USPS accepts handguns from FFLs only.
It costs on average....$35 or so to ship a handgun if you have to insure it for $1000 if you use USPS.
The private shippers all require that you ship a handgun overnight...which will cost over $50 easily for the same package (if not more.)
So, depending on what you are shipping it MAY or may not save you money to give a local FFL your handgun to ship for you. If they charge $25 and shipping costs another $35...it may actually be less expensive to ship overnight and skip the dealer. They can log it in from you...and ship it to your customer's FFL. If you are selling a handgun I would put "actual shipping" in your listing and figure out the best route to take when it comes time.
They and UPS know non-FFLs cannot use USPS and absolutely rape customers shipping pistols.
Too old to live...too young to die...
That was one of those very RARE ordeals where the postal service didn't deliver to that area.
Shipping is a pain, but using the Gun Broker system helps a lot to cut down on some of the aggrivation.
I would not ship using gunbroker. Some ammo I sold was lost and I am unable to file a claim with fedex because gunbroker is the shipper account holder. Gunbroker wont respond to any of my inquiries.
