Trying to get this listed...getting VERY tired of the "swirly" marks every friggin type of rag leaves on this gun.....is there a certain type of rag...or cloth, that will be better to use on this type of finish??? Something that normally would take an hour is taking FOREVER!!![:(!]

Nice gun though!!![8D][8D][:I]

No...really...usually it takes about an hour to get a gun on line. But these really high shine guns are a PAIN....I tought maybe there was a secret thing someone had run into that worked for this. Terry cloth...no...dust rag...no...cotton...no...satin (the backdrop)...no...there is NOT ONE thing you can touch these guns with that doesn't leave some kind of ick behind. Sometimes its swirly, oily looking mess, other times its dusty bits of crud...has anyone ran into anything that works better?

I ran into this same thing with the Python a while back. In the store its not such a big deal, but with photos....it shows all of these things 10X worse than they look.

Wipe down with your favorite cleaning cloth. Take your pics outside, against a solid background, in natural sunlight.

I started this one at about 8:00 and REALLY wanted to get a few things done, but this was getting on my nerves. Every time I touched it with anything....it was a cleaning nightmare!!! I was trying to get pics, which meant photos of different angles, more swirls in every picture!!! I got started late, so this one got to me (a little.)

no oil....use a very soft cloth (i use a old diaper, clean of course)because it has little lint....think of it as cleaning glass

I will see if I can find some...I had a few around here...I think I hid them from myself. I will also get an earlier start (especially with these BRIGHT ones.)

Dont take straight on pictures with a flash! let the flash bounce indirectly, or turn the flash off! I will send you a bill for that advice!

Go to any grocery store, and look in the cleaning supplies for a "microfiber" cloth.

I don't remember the brand name, but I have a cloth that I got at WallyWorld, it grey in color, after cleaning I wipe down my guns with it and it takes all marks off 1st time. These cloths are in the gun section there.

Remove the oil from the gun. Guns are not supposed to be coated in oil which leaves pretty swirly marks. Dunk the damn thing in solvent let it air dry and take the picture.

It got so late I about gave up on it....I just took a ton of pics to try and make up for not being able to get one good one. It is on line now...not as I would like for it to have been, but glad not to be in the middle of that swirly picture taking nightmare.

That is a pretty high starting price. I will watch what it does. If you are correct then my Series 70 Colt has doubled in value for what I paid for it a few years ago.

Specs...I got about 2 hours of cleaning on this thing and just HAD to stop. I thought I was going to get a few guns listed, but this shiny gun was a nightmare. Whoever had it, didn't clean it EVER...so it was dirty from the inside/out. I had some metal polish here, but that just made more swirly patches all over it...the more I tried the looonnngerrr it was taking. At one point I just sat it down and started taking pics. I had planned on starting it at $750...anything I put on line I try to do a bit better than I can in the store (why bother if you just sell it for the same amount right...) After the hassle and not getting it as clean as it needs to be and the pictures being a little hurried...I just put it up for the same amount and hope to have bids raise the amount to a level that compensates for the added steps of selling on line.

I think all of the specs and spots will come off...I just can't spend any more time on this one...I have 24 guns I meant to list this past weekend...I got a few done, but NOT ANYWHERE NEAR what I needed to.
