go to the store - they have crab legs on sale for $7.95. meant to go last week when they were $5.95 but didn't make it. so I'm there and they still had several bags left from yesterday when last weeks sale ended priced at $5.95, so I'm thinking great.

so when I check out, even with the labels priced at $6 the computer charges $8 so I pointed it out and the lady said right, we have to give them to you at the price marked on the bags but she couldn't do it there so she calls the meat guy and he comes up and takes them back to the meat dept. and fixes it.

no problem since I'm at a self check out and nobody's there. I checked the poundage and I had just under 7 pounds 6.7 or 8 I think so I'm getting $14 bucks back or just shy of.

anyway it only comes up $6 shy of what it was originally so I go ahead and get it anyway although I know the meat guy added almost a pound of ice total to the 4 bags. so I bought a pound of ice for $6.

I'm going back tomorrow and getting a bag that is right on the money at 2 or 3 pounds and I'm going to ask the guy to weigh it and make sure its the right weight and then I'm going to tell the guy to dump the ice and re-weigh it and reprice it.

I'll also talk to the manager as well although I'd be willing to bet he gives the meat guy a pat on the back after I leave.

I just can't believe they do crap like that.

crab may be worth 6-7 a pound but not ice. boneheads.

Also don't buy frozen crab bits. After they thaw out there's a good amount of crab flavored water. I think I had a cup (at least) of water from 3 pounds of King Crab bits.

I suppose frozen is better than them on ice from gawed knows when.

If it is Bi-lo I can tell you from experience they will fix it and make it right.
I had a few items ring up wrong and the "manager" on the floor screwed it up and didn't fix it right.
I called and spoke to the store manager the next day he not only fixed it but tried to refund all the items in question and tripled my fuel perks. I insisted that it wasn't necessary to refund the items just make it right and thanked him for the bonus fuel perks figuring the extra trip made that right.

He really was falling over himself trying to make sure I was happy and I appreciated that.
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

As a child we shopped at a market called the Green Frog. The meat department was on the left as you walked in the store. When we stopped at the meat department the butcher who could not speak would always grab a old fashion hot dog out of the display case.He would break it in half and give me half and he would eat the other half.I always wondered if he did that with every kid so he got a free lunch or he just did it for me.

Having been in the sfd business for 40 plus years, yes, they do weigh the tare weight! Remember most sfd products are about 90% water any way...believe it are not chicken and pork are the easiest to scale cheat....as far as pricing product, thats buyer beware...there is a new sheriff about to come to town in all food store weight problems...USDA is looking into store fraud...When we pack retail items in the plant in Texas,we are inspected by Federal Guide Lines, that's why its hard to compete with less than honest competition...Whole Foods got busted last week about a chicken...
