the tv show. laughed my butt off just now, showed a clip of a big PIT BULL that just had its * kicked by a GUINEA fowl. yep a 5 pound bird with that incessant alarm call. this dog had patched of hide missing all over its face, and was just trembling. Guineas are quite the watchdogs and sound off at any provocation. didn't know they would attack like this.

Guinea's are tough birds. I have a few of them around and none of the dogs will mess with them. If you can find their eggs they are really tasty fried.

I was asked once to look after the chickens for some friends who were going on a long trip. I was given the tour, showed "The Rooster Broom".

Quite simply, when entering the chicken yard always carry the broom. The rooster would attack you. When it did, whack it across the yard with the broom. The bird would be stunned long enough to get some work done, but be ready to take another swing at it.

Every day for two weeks it was like playing "Rooster Polo" or "Rooster Hockey" with that damned annoying critter.

Hurt when it got in it's hits on you, even thru jeans. Didn't mind whacking the fool thing one bit!

They are very observant, tough birds and they are dumber than a bag of hammers around cars; you start out with 20 in the spring and 2/3rds are dead by fall from running the road getting whacked by cars.

My rooster is cool, his name is "BIG ROO", when young he came after me and I gave him a size 13 Nike flight across the chicken coop. He was stunned for a while and made a wise choice to knock that crap off.

They also eat a lot of ticks. If you have a few, you won't have any ticks in your yard.[;)][^]

We had geese when I was a kid. Good watch dogs themselves.
Also had chickens. The Banty rooster we had though, had a Napoleon complex. [:D]
I hated that little flogging SOB.

I just noticed they have some dufus laws in Maine. Guy got arrested for OUI while riding an off road vehicle on HIS OWN LAND. That seems totally wrong on several levels.

Quit watching those shows when I saw a CA game warden show where every arrest was made with a full on SWAT team. It took a military style assault on a guys house for illegal fishing,,,,,,, because records showed he had A gun in the house [:(!] game wardens with thier own SWAT teams to nab someone for illegal fishing, showing off for the cameras and being total absolute power hungry Richard Craniums!
