I have a place on the tip of my index finger where the skin cracked and it is sore as all get out. I have cut off the offending portion a few times hoping it would heal over, but it still comes back split and hurts like hell when I put any pressure on it. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be?
Okay! No gross pics this time. I have used Dr. Scholls and Compound W gel alternately. I don't know which worked better, however I am inclined to believe the Compound W gel did. It looks and feels so much better. Thanks to everyone.
As far as scars go, I think I can trump any scars on fingers.

dude that looks gnarley, you have a flesh eating bacteria and need to get some anti-biotic ointment on it...

Looks like a nasty one, too.
Had one on my left index finger....never had one in my life, and at 40, I grew one. Couldn't play guitar for months.
All kinds of remedies out there, but if it's a stubborn one you need to see a dermatologist.
Lookks really nasty.
I'd go to a dermatologist, although the three times I have gone, I got the same answer each time: put cortisone on it.
Yours looks worse than the stuff I had.
Hope you get better, fast

Yeah, that's my quandry. I've never had a wart of any kind. It hurts. I didn't know warts were painful. I guess it't time for a visit to the doc. I've cut it off with fingernail nippers and with a straight edge razor blade. It feels much better for about 14 days after I cut it off and then it grows back.
stop picking your nose? [:0]

I've stopped wearing my contacts and rubbing my eyes. I don't want to transfer this to ANY OTHER body part. I'm already extremely obsessive about washing my hands and stuff like that. It's my trigger finger and very difficult to "not" use it.
Other than that, see a dermatologist. He can freeze or acid burn it off. If he suggests cutting it off, run away and find another doc.
Finally you can leave it alone. Oftentimes these warts self-destruct after a number of months.
Don't cut on it, and don't let anyone else cut on it.
That is the nastiest thing I've seen all day.[xx(]
Appears to be a cluster of warts. Swing into the clinic and have them freeze it. Good as new!
Thanks for ruining my dinner.[xx(]
Be SURE to kill the wart to the root, or it will eventually grow back.
The freeze off stuff is better, if you use it correctly.
Fishkiller, EEEEWWWWWWW[:(][:(][:(][:(] what did you do to that poor defenseless finger?[:0][:p][:D]
Cutting frozen meatballs.Very sharp and large knife.
