June 6th I go in for a 45 min. procedure, the Doc says it's very safe. Hell they don't even REALLY put you "under", just set-up a nerve block and use a local. One little slit in the skin, peel it back, make a couple more snips and sew you back up! Doc says that I'm a prime candidate for complete success/recovery and I'll be "back to my old self" in 6 weeks, give or take. I've had some time to think this over and now that the 2 oldest are out of the house......................

Should I have this torn tendon in my elbow fixed?[}:)]

If it had any chance of improving your life - go ahead.

Surgery had come a long way from when they simply used a bottle of whisky for local anasthetic and tool-sterilizing (if you were lucky)..

I have a theory.. My old B.A.R. is still working fine. I don't think it will work as good running blanks thru it. Might jam up and quit.

I have had most people tell me that the surgery really does work........most of the time. Of course, I'm worried about recurrence as well, my job is pretty physical (bet y'all thought I was a Dr. by my posts?!?!*LOL*) I've already scheduled a date for the procedure, but would like to hear from ANYBODY who has had this surgery!
The first part of the thread was my lame-* attempt to "troll" for humor.......I expected that a few folks would at least BEGIN to think I was talking about getting "fixed"[;)] if ya' know what I mean.

    shoff,
No. Tommy John is the procedure where they repair the tendon on the INSIDE of the elbow. I'm getting the "Tennis Elbow" (outside) version.
I used to laugh when I heard someone say their "tennis elbow" was bothering them. NO MORE!
"Significant Tear(s) " is the phrase the Dr. used when we reviewed the MRI images[:(], All I know is, move the wrong way or try to pick up something heavy with your palm down and the term I would use is, "significant Pain!" *LOL*
I've been putting up with this for awhile, actually I think it "tore" about 2 yrs ago, so I'm thinking it's almost GOTTA get better with surgery.

Unless you use the "OTHER" hand!! [:0]...Just kiddin... "Tennis-elbow is another one of them deals where it never gets better on it's own..I just had a r/side hernia fixed 5 weeks ago today.Back to 100% now.My wife made a few calls and found i have a $0.00 balance with the Dr,Surgon and the Hospital. So,,, I'm going tomorro to have the podiatrist schedual me for surgery to remove massive calcium deposits from the large knuckle at the base of my right big toe.(Another "never gets better on it's own) deal.
BTW,,, i thought at the beginning of the thread you were going to go get CIRCUMSIZED... [xx(]
