Man, I can't get enough of these things lately. Never been a big fruit eater, mostly just meat. But the local store had them on sale the other day and have been eating 2 lbs a day of the things. I am still trying to lose weight and so these are a great snack food. But just dont know why I cant stop eating them.

Actually, I am basically done losing weight just trying not to gain any back now.

I know what you mean, at the bowshop I go to the owners wife grows them. I've been pickin and eatin for the last week. Then today I tilled up another part so she could put 2000 more plants in. For helping her I get all the strawberries I want[:D]

you gotta clean them cut them in half add 10% water put them in the freezer a few days. Take em out thaw em mash em with a tater masher just a little, then put them on fresh hot Pillsbury Grand biskets and top with real whip cream. Youll be fat again in a week.

lazerus, that is how my parents always made them, never really cared for it myself. I am not a big dessert or sweets person, but can really put away the rice and meat. Also got hooked on Hamburger Helper the past winter.

I love 'em. There used to be acre after acre of strawberry fields in this county but with home prices running over $400 per sqaure foot the fields have disappeared and been replaced by housing tracts.

We pigged out on them in Fla this past winter. They were bought ripe
at the farms and eaten every which way. A flat didnt last us (2) all that long.

Love 'em, almost as much as cherries. Been raising strawberries and cherries for personal consumption for years now.

If any of you live in a State similar to Kansas as far as climate, forget the apple, peach, and pear trees, and plant cherry trees. They are very eary to take care of, no need to de-bug because they ripen early.

Opps, didn't mean to hijach the pro-strawberry thread with cherries....[;)]

Take an ice cream sandwich (or 2 or 3...) and break up into small bite sized pieces. Put tehm in a bowl, cover with strawberries, add fresh whipped cream. Then to really lay it on, nuke a snickers bar and dribblie it over the top.

Our little town in southeast Louisiana is know for growing strawberries and has a large strawberry festival every year. We eat lots of strawberries when they are in season.

I've heard of Strawberry wine, but never had it.Does it have to be sikenin sweet?Or can it be made with little residual sugar?I have had Georgia Peach wine, it was great, but a little sweet for my taste.I like wines in the "Zinfindel"Range of sweetness.
