Sounds like good way to greatly reduce landline costs.

And why would you have a landline these days?

Because if there is a weak link in the telecom system, it is cell towers.

I have a land line because that is how I get DSL, the only real option for high-speed internet here. Never use the land line but pay Frontier $85.00 a month to get lousy, slow DSL. The DSL powers my cell booster too.

Really? Some folks don't have the best cell service and there are some areas where lots of folks don't even have cell phones. Our local land line is a "user owned coop" and provides jobs for about 30 people in the local economy. I get a "patronage" check each year for my share which amounts to about 10-15% of my yearly cost for phone, internet, and TV service.

Heck, why even pay at all. Obama and the socialists will give it to you in exchange for votes.

We started OOMA about 6 moths ago. Its VOIP.

Using the internet for connections rather than land lines. We use the Business OOMA, we kept our land line numbers and pay $ 26.10 a month versus over $ 120.00 a month.

No long distance fees and great clear connection.

Just ask all those Sprint customers in the Midwest how they feel after yesterday.
