Went to a gun shop to LOOK around.I left with a ruger MK 2 m77.Has the all weather early type stock, its like new.For 375.00 the ammo shocked me at the price of 45.00.I like the looks of the ss with black stock.this rifle has the sights, most i see only have a scope.Anyway dident NEED a rifle just wanted something difrent from what I have.Anyone here hunt with .338?

I've owned several 338 caliber firearms over the years. Good caliber.

I use the .338 Federal alot on hogs as I got older and more arthritis I got to where I didn't like the recoil of the .338 Win mag. plus where I hunt my longest shots are 150 yds or less the .338 Fed provides plenty of punch for that

The nice thing about a .338 is that you can shoot anything you want with it. From grouse to moose it will get the job done. I have had several over the years but have used my Remington the most. I like a handload of IMR4350 pushing a 225 grain pill the best.
Lead me not into temptation as I seem to find it often myself !

I have three of them...maybe someday I will get up the nerve to fire one of them...I am now hunting deer with a 6mm Rem...at 70 I am getting sensitive to recoil. I have NEVER read anything bad about a .338! The only thing I have heard often...it can be TOUGH on the shoulder!

Berger sells a 300 grain bullet that rocks

+1! The .300gr OTM indeed rocks. However, in order to take advantage of it's full potential, need more powder capacity (like the RUM, LM, edge, cheytac, etc ...) to propel the heavy bullet. I find that .225gr is about the heaviest I'd go with my .338 WM.

HSM is the only factory ammo I know (at least at this time) the carries them ...
