My oldest son is graduating from the USAF Academy in May of this year and will be heading to NAS Pensacola for flight school! My wife and I are truly blessed.

But remember , the acorn doesn't fall too far from the Oak tree .
Give yourself a pat on the back for his upbringing.[^]
I know you are very proud, because I know how proud I am and all they are doing at the moment is expressing interest. I would be beside myself to be in your shoes. Again congratulations!!
Tell your son congratulations on his great accomplishment.
One of my wifes greatest moments was when she got to pin our son.
wundudnee,
My wife and I look forward to the pinning ceremony. [^]
dreher,
Congratulations to your daughter too. You are absolutely right, the overall requirements are very tough and competitive. My youngest son made it to the official candidate list for the USAFA and USNA but not to the final list. Luckily, he also applied to the AFROTC and NROTC. I highly recommend to apply to all the military academies and ROTCs.
He is currently a freshman at the University of Arizona with full ride NROTC scholarship majoring in Physiology in hopes to get into dentistry school (God help us [:p]).
So far he's doing very well but he's having way too much fun at school ... [;)]

Very few young men and women can accomplish such a thing entirely on their own and there must be a parent or parents working hard to support them.
Congratulations.

My wife and I were heavily involved in all their school and extracurricular activities way back back from their pre-school days. I guess you can say our life and schedule revolved around them. We can only hope that they will do the same for their own family and that they will take care of us when we are old. [:p]
Thanks again everyone.

My grandson is getting ready to go in the USAF Academy. I jokingly tried to get him to join the Marines but he was in ROTC in HS and wants to go to the AF. My wife is a retired AF Major. Several of her family are former AF. Its hell being a former Marine and being in a family of retired AF.[:D]
Congrads on your son. Definitely a cause to be proud.

Congrats to your grandson! I am grateful for people like you that served in the other military branches because I certainly cannot see myself doing it. I retired from the USAF in 2007 but still work for the Department of the Air Force. Thanks for you and your wife's (and her family) service to this great nation.
