I'm going tomorro at 2 pm to have the large (second) knuckle in my right big toe cut out,and the ends of the bone fused together.I guess their gonna screw a plate to it to help hold it aligned until the bone heals.
Doc says 90 days before i can work on my feet again.I broke it by stuffin it into the ground a bunch of times motocrossin when i was a kid.Dr. says it's "severly arthritic".I shoouldda been nicer to my body when i was young.I'm 44 now and wonder what kind of problems i have to look foreward to in the future with a "fused" toe-bone.

I've broken my left big toe more than a dozen times, the last time it was almost completely crushed and I couldn't move it a bit without a lot of pain. Didn't give me a lot of trouble while walking, but it sure hurt like hell if I stubbed it. After about 3 years, it came back into working properly and has gotten better over the past 5, except it aches like hell (along with my knees and my left hand) when it's cold or there's a storm brewing. I feel for you, toe pain sucks. I can't magine what mine'll be like in 20 years[B)]

See your other post about this. I left a detailed message.

Got so many fused joints my fingers look like shillelleighs (sp).
All self-inflicted. You can't buy that kinda pain at any price.

I cut my big toe off in a 3 wheeler accident when I was a kid. They had to fuse the bone together when they reattached it and I cannot bend that toe anymore. All I remember about that accident was the tremendous pain after the shots wore off. They did not give kids pain killers back then though...

I have 2 verterbra in my back fused. No problems...well, not many anyway. Not as flexible as I once was. Only hurts when it is going to rain or snow. Thankfully, I don't live anywhere near Oregon or Washington State. My dad has an artificial joint in his big toe. Also an arfificial hip and knee. But the toe doesn't give him any problems. Just has to take antibiotics before going to the dentist.

In 1979, my doctor told me, that, due to recurring injuries to my left ankle, I'd need that done by the time I hit 50.
    5 years to go.

I had c-4 and c-5 of my neck fused....what an ordeal...GOOD NEWS!!! I shoot better now... the bad news? a little stiff looking up or to the right. hard to sleep on my belly get mass headaches fake earaches (tension or long drives really set it off)and random phantom pain in my upperleft chest and shoulder...(been to the ER over that (thought it was my heart) I developed a fair dependance to vicodin which I had to stop taking (that sucked)all in all I wish I could have left it alone. Dr says he can eliminate the head/ear aches with botox injections...not goin there. so, relaxing, occaisional aspirin and not doing what makes it hurt are the relief...trouble is...I love to do what makes it hurt
