Can anyone tell me the dif. between a S&W Model 29 44 mag and the 29-9 of 29-2.

Here's a list of "dash" designations but it only goes to dash-4.

29-2 will have a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder. 29-9 will not have either.

yes, they used to have the barrel nailed on
