i cant believe this...the jury found that because his mommy and daddy were mean to him that he gets a pass to kill 3000 americans. WTH is this country coming too ? they should have fried that f*ckers * in the chair.

...To attempt to stay detached, is hard in this case.
I heard the bs about his "childhood", blah, blah...that's amazing, depending on how much weight the jury put into that...any weight is too much.

...For me, if what we heard was true, death. Who knows(ever) what the jury heard, except them? About $100,000 a year to keep him in CO. max security, for 30-40 years, do the math. The jury had a bad, tough job, I won't second guess them, hell, I forgot a jury summons I had back a couple months ago, and know way would it have ever been a job like they had...Fair?... nothing in life is ever fair, get used to it...[;)]

To me it's about what the most fitting punishment should be. Zacarias Moussaoui sought for his own death, it would make him a martyr and hero to himself and his stone age buddies.
He was unable to achieve his original terrorist mission making him a failure and to further his misery he's unable to obtain "Paradise and his 72 virgins".
I say keep this offal alive as long as we can so he can suffer his long miserable existence in shame and despair. That is a fitting punishment for him and a deterant to his cave dwelling peers.[}:)][:(!]

Personally, I think life in prison a much harsher penalty than lethal injection.

life in prison for this guy is going to cost us $35,000 year or more. and if anyone thinks killing the guy will give him martydom you are wrong. there is NO martydom and NO virgins waiting for these guys. there is only a hot firey HELL that they belong in. the next time al-qaeda kidnaps someone i bet you they ask for this guys release in exchange.

I think we should show some compassion and take up a collection for his transition to prison life...say enough for 5 tubes of K-Y Jelly? That should last him about a week.

here we go again "my god is better than your god"

it is much better to punish him according to his beliefs not ours, and yes killing him for 9-11 would in fact make him a martyr, i just hope no one kills him in jail, just beats him daily

it is funny how people scoff at their belief of 72 virgins, but find it totally acceptable that a virgin had a child

I wouldn't call life in prison "getting a pass." Maybe you should get a pass. Or even just a clue.

As to what this country is coming to - juries decide serious issues, and spelling is taught in elementary school. You're not part of the solution.

This guy was just an "wanna-be" and was not trusted enough by his terrorist pals to be included in their inner circle. Executing him would have just given him the free ride he wants to martyrdom while letting him sit in jail lets everyone see that he was such a loser he was not even worth being executed after a full confession. In a way I think this sentence sends a powerful message: If we catch you don't expect to die a martyr's death; instead you can expect to spend the rest of your life rotting away in a prison while being gaurded and treated like dirt by the very same infidels whom you despise so much.

life in prison is better than execution in this case.
If he was a Western terrorist like McVeigh, then execution is OK, but according to their twisted culture (Islamic extremists) being a martyr for their cause is one of the greatest honors one can achieve and assures a place in heaven in the afterlife. Now he has to look forward to a natural death as a defeated old man!

I couldn't agree more. The worst thing in the world that we could have done with this guy is to execute him.

    1. He WANTED to die.
    2. His death at our hands would make him a martyr.

The worst punishment would be for him to rot in jail for the rest of his life. He's young, so he's going to have lots and lots and lots of spare time to reflect upon himself and what he's done. He can spend the next fifty years begging Allah to take his life. I hope he lives to the ripe old age of 200.

As far as our friendly neighborhood bigot goes, it would cost about $100,000 per year, not $35,000 per year, to keep him alive. Meanwhile, as usual, you've checked your brain at the door. Given our justice system, a death sentence means a 100% automatic appeal. That's mandatory -- nobody has a choice in the matter. Appeals aren't cheap, and they most certainly aren't free. Figure that Tookie Williams took what, 20 years to execute? This guy would get at least that long, so that's $2 million, not counting that we'd be paying for his defense (millions), his prosecution (millions), his bodyguards (millions). Either way, it probably washes out in the end.

I agree with He Dog and a few others. If he gets death, then he's a hero to the cause. Let him rot away.

Besides, I HOPE the jury didn't decide his fate based upon HIS beliefs. I hope they decided based upon the evidence and the law. Personally, I didn't think he "deserved" execution based upon what he did.

He caused people to die by lying to his captors. People commit premeditated murder and don't get the death penalty, why should he get it if he didn't actually kill someone himself.

probably the best outcome for the long term....cannot sit here & outguess a jury...somehow we have to reach justice & not have our enemies percieve us as weak...

He was a bottom-rung, terrorist-wanna-be....had he been in organized crime, he would have been ofted long ago.
Killing him only gives him what he wants, validation of his own deluded self-perception, and martyrdom....
