Do you mean Major Tom in "Space Oddity" or Major Tom in "Ashes To Ashes"?

According to Jones' book, Bowie was heavily addicted to sex, cocaine, nicotine and caffeine, and it wasn't until 1990 that Bowie met supermodel Iman at a dinner party and turned his life around.
The pair remained married until Bowie's death.
We could be heroes!
A good live version.

I was his next door neighbor from about 1990 to 1993 in Hollywood - then girlfriend (later wife) & he shared a condo on the corner of Crescent Heights and Sunset, 4th floor. Very nice guy, sure of himself and not of the "have something to prove" type.
I met him first in the lobby & didn't recognize him. Looked like hell, been out boozing because the GF was upset with him. He was smoking and dropping cigarette ashes on the floor when I walked in. I remember being a little PO'd and saying "pal, the floor's marble" & handing him an ashtray. The concierge turned white and said "don't you know who that is ....?"
Had dinner with he and wife a few times. We both drove the same model car (65 XKE convertible) and none of the valets could figure out how to get his to run so they'd ask me to move it. Always had the oldies station on the radio. And he was a combination of PO'd and hurt when the concierge crew got caught looking at negatives of his GF's risque photo-shoot. I found both of those a bit odd, given the public personae. The guy crosses my mind once in a while when I remind myself that no one and nothing in Hollywood is real. It's all "for the camera" and 99% of them are not what we see.
