Scam? refund difference in money???

Have item on GB and two separate users asked questions:

If their client sends us a MO / Cashiers Check, will we refund the difference in price because their fee and handling is in there. Never said their name or amount the check would be. Seems fishy.

They wanted the money wired the same day money order was received. What if it does not clear??

Has any body else had a similar situation? Any advise? Thanks.

Fleabay, sold a 3 point finish mower for the tractor. High bidder's id was from Louisville , Ky. Phone number was from California. He wanted to send me a $2900 check for a $500 item and me refund the money to a check cashing place in Montana. He sent the check and wanted to pick up the mower the next day. I said he could have the mower when the cash was in my hand at pickup and he could have his check back. I still have the check and sold it to the backup bidder. Never heard from him again.

I have had these emails on several of the auctions I ran this month. Both here and on Fleabay. The wording of the email us usually chopped up, like the person does not speak or write english well.

Old con. They will send you a counterfeiet money order or cashiers check. You send them the "difference" and your merchandise. You get a returned check from the bank- and they did not even kiss you or buy you dinner. Ignore them unless they are from a foreign country- ship THEM a box of fishing sinkers, but declare on customs mailing form that it is worth $2 grand- they get stuck paying import duties on it.

Shipping them anything is a waste of time and money. They will never know you shipped anything. The address is bogus. The only thing they are interested in is "refund the difference".
The road to hell is paved with COMPROMISE.
