WHAT TYPES OF THINGS WOULD CAUSE ME TO BE
DISQUALIFIED FROM BEING ABLE TO REGISTER A FIREARM?
To qualify for registration of a firearm in the
District of Columbia, you must meet all of the
following criteria. You:
1. Must not stand convicted of a crime of violence,
or have any prior weapons offenses.

The Stupid American says "Plenty of Non-Felony related offenses can be covered with this beautiful criteria. Misdemeanor Assault (Fist Fight) for one" Don't be a barbarian and don't fight. I don't fight so I can still get my guns. Why do I care if you cannot get yours?"

2. Must not be under indictment for a crime
of violence or weapons offense.

The Stupid American says "Unworthy of the "right" to keep and bear arms since any innocent person would never be under indictment. You got indicted. The government says that you don't have the "right" to keep and bear arms because this is a "reasonable" restriction. Why do I care? I am not under conviction."

3. Must not stand convicted within the past
five years for a narcotics or dangerous drug offense,
threats to do * harm or for assault.

The Stupid American says "Denied your "right" to keep and bear arms by a government entity that has decided that some non-felony offenses are justifiable reasons to INFRINGE on a U.S. Citizen's "right" to keep and bear arms. Why do I care? I am not a drug dealer. I haven't assaulted a soul. This doesn't affect me."

4. Must not have been acquitted of any criminal
charge by reason of insanity or adjudicated as a
chronic alcoholic by any court within the past five
years.
The Stupid American says "Although you have not been found guilty of any crime, your "right" to keep and bear arms are denied because the method you used to win your trail/case has been decided by the Government Entity to be a "reasonable" reason to deny a U.S. Citizen the "right" to keep and bear arms. I am not insane. I am not an alcoholic. The government is more than capable of determining if you have the "right" to a gun. Why do I care? I can still get mine. "

5. Must not have been voluntarily or involuntarily
committed to any mental hospital or institution
within the past five years.

The Stupid American says "I know you had some tough times and you were so stressed that you had to take some time off and get some treatment at a wellness facility. But since this is technically a "mental hospital", your "right" to keep and bear arms has been INFRINGED because a Government Entity has decided that this is a "reasonable" restriction. I have never been an Alcholic. I have never been in a Mental Hospital. Why Do I care? I can still get my gun."

6. Must not suffer from a physical defect which
would make it unsafe for you to possess and use a
firearm safely and responsibly.

The Stupid American says "So what if you are flat footed and cannot make a proper stance to fire a gun? So what if you are unable to shoot accurately with both your right hand? So what if you have sausage fingers the size of a brat? I am right handed and I can easily make a proper stance. Why do I care if the government has decided to INFRINGE on a U.S. Citizen's "right" to keep and bear arms? I can still get my gun!"

7. Must not be found negligent in any firearm
mishap causing death or injury to another human
being.

The Stupid American says, "Cry me a river. You had your gun in your locked desk drawer and your teenage son's friend picked the lock and ended up shooting himself in the foot. His Dad sued you because you were a dumb * without a Gun Safe with proper locks. A liberal jury found you negligent. I don't care if you didn't anticipate a slimy teenager breaking into your locked desk and stealing your gun. The government has decided that you are not allowed to exercise your "right" to keep and bear arms because this is a "reasonable" restriction. Learn to follow the rules you stupid moron! Why do I care? I can still get my gun!"

8. Must not be convicted of any felony, or prostitution-
related offense.

The Stupid American says, "You did the crime! Do the time! Prostitution is against God's word! I agree that if you visit a prositute or you are a prostitute, that the government is right in denying a U.S. Citizen the "right" to keep and bear arms. You should have never trusted that family accountant! Your name was on the Income Tax Return! It's not my fault you are a felon now. Be smarter next time! This is a perfectly "reasonable" restriction since you obviously cannot be trusted with your "right" to keep and bear arms even though you have done your time and paid your fine. Tough cookies! I can still buy my gun! I don't see prostitutes. I am not a felon! Why do I care

Yep. The Supreme Court did a great job of examining the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We have an individual right to keep and bear arms. The government has the right to "reasonably" restrict how that right is used. "Reasonable" is a perfectly viable term that allows the proper flexibility for the government to decide who can use a natural right and who cannot.

D.C. represents EVERY self-empowering government that has ever existed in the history of man. Since the U.S. Supreme court failed to defend and protect the single most important document in the history of our great country, power hungry governments will continue to push and expand the notion of "reasonable".

Sure, we will be able to fight more and more battles and hopefully regain ground through years and years of litigation. But why should we have to continue to fight a battle that our Forefathers fought AND won? "Shall Not Be Infringed" is a very direct phrase. "Reasonable" restrictions seem to be "infringements" to me.

But Why do I care? I can still buy and own A gun because the government "ALLOWS" me to.
