Tikka 270 win scope update and setup prep ??

First off I'd like to say I really appreciate all the input you folks have given on my previous posts about scope types, the differences between them, and the ins-n-outs of scopes in general.[8D][8D][8D]

I just purchased the Burris Signature 3-12x44 (not the posi-lock) for a whopping $389.83 including shipping[;)] (almost feel like a kid in a candy store!) [:D]

I've got my eye on the Burris Signature and Sako / Tikka Optilock rings and bases. (think I can get the low optilocks w/out the base and still have clearance for a scopecoat) ...the research continues, and as always, opinions are very welcome! [:)]

I've got a limbsaver 10011 precision fit recoil pad on the way, (probably order the scopecoat and some sort of lens care / cleaning kit tomorrow) and was wondering what type of laser boresight inputs you have in order to properly setup / mount the scope? I assume something that utilizes a reticle leveler is preferred. I'm not opposed to a kit for different calibers, but would like to find something quality in the $100 - $200 range to atleast get the job done on this gun and preferrably other calibers also. Got any good names for me?

Thanks as always,
NC shooter

Maybe it's just me, but the Opti-Lock rings and bases have too many parts that can loosen up. I would go with Talley steel ringmounts if they are available and Leupold if they aren't. Sounds like a nice outfit.

I've had the best luck with a laserlyte bore sight about 80.00 tried them that go into chamber don't waste your money on them.

    NC shooter,

You can save your money for more ammunition by bore sighting using your eyeballs. There is no need for those lasers or any of those other mandrels that you stick into your bore. All it takes is a little practice and you'll never miss having another piece of kit to carry around.

Use the 'Search' button in to upper right corner to find the other 8 or so threads on bore sighting.

    Best.

LaserLyte is what I have and I have never had a problem. I lost one of the collets once and when I called and explained my plight the lady sent me 5 little plastic baggies full of all caliber collets. I know it wasn't much, but it meant something to me.

+1 on the Talley rings and bases.

+1 on scrap the bore sight idea and learn to do it yourself.
