Checking to see what scrap metal is bringing now that the economy is off.
I sold 300 lb. of scrap brass 2 months ago at $1.40 per/lb.
Called this last weekend to get price on a new load ---.40 per/lb.
How is it in other areas?
I am in Alabama.

rufe-snow was seeking scrap brass prices on the Experts forum and received some interesting answers.

So, just curious, what does scrap copper and lead bring in your areas?

Since I'm not moving far, I'm seriously considering keeping all my lead . . . I'm guessing it's well over a ton, much of it in ingots of various hardnesses (pure lead, Lyman #2, wheelweight, linotype). Someday, I'll have a new place and can fire up the Magma furnace again. Won't have to buy any handgun bullets - or at least no revolver slugs - for the rest of my life.

Prices suck right now. I am sitting on about 150 tons of scrap rail and around 7 tons of clean aluminum.... no kidding!

Waiting for the price to comeback.

I took in about 30# of spent primers last week and got .26/# for it.
The guy claimed his buyer didn't like scrap ammo brass/primers due to some live stuff getting mixed in. It takes a LOT of old primers to make that much. I was expecting quite a bit more $$$.

Gonna be waiting a long long time.

I'm still getting grief from my wife cause we're still scrapping. She says the price is too low. I says the price ain't coming back and it's time to clean the place up. I remind her that her brother is still laid off from the idled steel mill and therefore the demand for scrap is low.

I think there are 5-6 vehicles to go plus a low of small stuff.

Yeah I'm guessing the same for steel. They hedged their inputs at a high price and don't want to sell their output at a lower price which the market is demanding.
