MOST OF These guys have the latest, greatest, MAGNUM. They can't hit anything with it unless they use a mechanical rest. And LOUD! They of course had to install some sort of LOUDMOUTH muzzle break. Everyone else at the range hates them.

Its alays nice about the time you get ready to squeeze one off at something 250 or more yards away and 50 caliber goes off a couple of tables down. but hey they paid their money just like i did so what can you say

They won't even let them shoot a .50 BMG at our range. Weatherby rifles are bad enough.

I get complaints on loudness when I shoot my Mosin Nagent M44.
One person on the line said he felt the report when I shot it.

I'll be willing to bet that those that have shot aganst him wouldn't share your opinion.
There are a few people on this board that do know how to handle the "big boys toys", just because your not one of them is no reason to cry about it.

While I agree, most of the "magnum disease" guys can't handle their rigs, those of us who have rifles "built" for accuracy work, at long ranges, (by this I mean anywhere from 500-1000yds), the brake makes recovery from recoil and torque much faster, which allows faster "on target" follow up shots before wind conditions change as well as allow us to see our hits during recoil.

When shooting a match, with sight-in and record target periods, over the course of the day, a shooter can become recoil fatigued. Brakes make you more competitive over the long day.

OK, OK, I edited the post to say "Most of". I have seen some very poor shooting from MAGNUM shooters.

You guys have it all wrong. Our old and trusted calibers are out of date and ineffective now. Just like the salesman at Scheel's told me, the 30-06, 308, and 30-30 are antiques and are incapable of taking game these days. Get on the band wagon already. Jeez.

My three favorite hunting rifles are all chambered in .300 savage and the deer and hogs still are dropping. If I have to reach a little farther sitting on an open field the 280 Rem comes out.

Maybe legally, but I believe that if you realy dig into it, the 22LR actually holds that distintion.

I guess I dont understand this, I'm going to assume it's sarcasm. to my knowledge deer, pigs, antelope or any other game animal have not gotten stronger, or developed thicker hides, or bones. So if a 30cal. was capable 30 years ago of falling game, what makes them ineffective today?

My post was a whole load of BS sarcasm. But I was told that by a Scheel's salesman one time. I walked in with cash in hand to buy a 30-06 Savage and when he told me that I walked right back out.

Nothing wrong with the magnums, but certainly nothing wrong with the old "tried and true" calibers either. In the right hands a .22 can be just as deadly as a .50 and vice-versa(depending on the size of game of course). My favorite rifles to deer hunt with are still my .270 Winchester or my .308 Winchester, but that doesn't mean I can't own a .375 H&H Magnum. I don't own it to go and show off at the range, I own it because I love firearms and shooting is one of my hobbies. Frankly, I don't care if I ever take a game animal with my .375, I bought it to have fun with and because it is a caliber I have read a lot about and that has a lot of history behind it. I am not going to deny that I have seen some guys that have a .338 Winchester Magnum(or insert any caliber you like) that they definitely shouldn't own. They flinch more then the devil on Christmas day and are afraid to shoot it, yet they bought it because it was "cool" or they "needed something that big to kill the monsterous deer they hunt", etc.

Uh oh, you called it a "break" when apparently it's "brake". You are going to get in trouble just like I did. [:D][:D]
