Kind of looks like a wolf spider.

Best way to tell 8 eyes ok 6 not good.

Just for your info wolf spiders kill brown recluse. So don't kill the good one. Wolf spiders have even been kept as pets like a Tarantula.

I have a scar the size of a 50 cent piece on my calf from a recluse bite. Never saw the spider. It was in my bed (or somewhere in my room) when I came home from college for Christmas.

That thing would have been flushed down the drain with hot water.

Yes. If you notice that little design that looks like a small violin on its back. That's the telltale sign, that's how they get their nickname, "fiddle back"

better to find it then get bit congrats on that part

I do not think any recluse spiders live around us (or any dangerous spiders for that matter .thank goodness )
but we do have countless wolf spiders I have ran across some that look very similar to a recluse at first glance .
I always just take them out side when I find one in the house
out of hundreds I have picked up ( wolf spiders ) only one ever bit me [:(!], but I still let it go [:D]

Wake up with one on your pillow staring into you eye from about 2" away Talk about getting the heart started. MY cats were setting a little ways away just staring at it. He was lucky to have lived thru that one and was taken outside.

Keep hearing they are hairy, when I hear that I think Tarantula. Not wolf spider.

    Heads up:
    He is not a loner.

Get yourself some Bifen IT (readily available on flea bay or from farm and feed stores) and a 1 or 2 gallon sprayer and spray all around and outside next to the house and yours shops. Mix per instructions and no need to mix any stronger than instructions.
    You can review on-line.
    Why Bifen IT.
    It works on insects.
    No odor.
    No stain.
    Last for several months.
cheap, pint is $20 and makes approx. 50 gallons.

Next get some of the Tomcat or catchmaster glue boards and place one under the fridge, in closets, etc. You can fold the ones for the closets into a little rectangular box and place close to the wall.

The recluse like to roam at night. they really like under the fridge, warm and also moisture.

    Also spray the attic.
They also like to hang out in pasteboard boxes.

Sprays that work on insects very often do not work on arachnids. Getting the brown recluse out of the house will not be that easy. It might reduce the number of available insects for them to eat, but probably not sufficiently to eliminate them. Some houses have had thousands of spiders. Talk with the local extension service.

    Right on.
Once a place gets infested the recluse are not easily and quickly removed.
Just farting around and hoping they will simply go away and trying to ignore them will not get er dun. Might cost you your life or limb or some big hospital bills or all of the above.
