I had to post this response from one of my Liberal friends. It just shows that they do not get it at all. This is in response to the post about exploiting our own resources rather than being forever dependant on foreign sources.

Oooooh, fantastic idea - let's screw the environment all to hell and gone, much more important we fill up our SUVs so we can continue to live life now as we're comfortable... I mean, who the heck in their right mind would be concerned with how we leave our planet for our descendants? Surely our parents and their parents generations didn't think of it, why should we, right? And the "moonscape" (meaning, barren and devoid of all life, how clever the author is to make us think that!) ANWR only has a couple of caribou to worry about, no delicate ecology at all, just a bunch of animals, we're frigging Americans by God and we're destined to be the greatest! Do we want to be like Brazil, a bunch of nobody's?
Oh, wait, our foreign policies have already made us second-rate in the eyes of the rest of the world, haven't they...
In summation: What a load of craptastic drivel. I've seen better from the conservative anti-environmental side. Try again, but thanks for playing.

This is the response from my Ultra-conservative friend to teh above:
(he) is an enemy of reason. Period. His priorities are terribly whacked and his reasoning lost. He wants to pay, via tax hikes, for something that, at the most minimally affects our environment, and for the most part still a theory of how much carbon dioxide is contributed by the evil white man compared to how much carbon dioxide is released by nature. People like this would rather have both parents work out of the home; send their children to day care; or live in the streets to save something that probably does not need to be saved. Simply, lets not destroy our lives while looking for an energy alternative.
Next, it will be "we are addicted to water". So, don't take any more showers, ban all swimming pools, and it will be mandated that we can only drink one glass of water a day.... Will it ever stop?
If (he) is going to fight for something, at least he should fight for the unborn children at abortion clinics; that would give him credibility in the fight for the caribou.
If he is so concerned about the environment, he should remove the house from his property and re-plant trees and raise beetle bugs. -Would this be reasonable?
Simply, fighting for the environment must be reasonable....
