SAE ammo

why does ammo come in sizes like .357, .283, .35346415? and it's all thrown together with metric ammo like 9mm, 10mm, 7mm, 7.62x39, yada yada if it was a toolbox it would be a nightmare.

why don't they get rid of it all and use SAE units. you have your choice between 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", etc

You think the SAE uses fractions as a standard?

    Sorry, you're not even close.

When SAE inch measurements are used the standard is in thousandths of an inch. Thus: .357, .45, 243, etc

When SAE metric measurements are used the standard can be anything from whole numbers to microns (10^-6)

Oh and just an FYI, your .35346415 would cost a fortune to produce. Those number behind the decimal have a cost, and it ain't cheap. (unless your tolerance is +/- .00046415)
