I Hate The Jewell Trigger In My AR15 !

Background: Rifle is used for offhand silhouette shooting at a weekly match.

I installed a new Jewell AR15 2 stage trigger. I set it at 1 1/2 pounds pull on the second stage. Benchtested, it worked fine! 1st trip to the range resulted in the 1st 4 shots going full auto.

Took it back home, all looked good and again, benchtested fine. The trigger has now worked fine for about 100 rounds.

This week, I'm coming up on my first target, I start to get on the trigger for the 1st stage pull, BANG! Shot went 2 feet over the target. That cost me 13 points. The 2 stage trigger is now a 1 stage trigger.

Any ideas besides ripping it out?

They're easy to replace, I say rip it out and start anew. You now have ZERO confidence in your rifle as is, you're going to be concentrating on all of the "what if's" on the line instead of the steps for a successful shot. I can't shoot very well that way (Just my 2c [8D]).

Get rid of it you confidence is gone in that unit.

I have a Timney drop in unit that I really like and has never done me wrong. I have it on a rifle I shoot in 3 gun matches.

see if you can get ahold of jewell and find out if its an easy fix. Maybe search for similar problems.
My buddy had a 2 stage target trigger in an ar, cant remember what brand, but it said not to lube it. He sprayed a little rem oil on it anyhow. He could regularly fire 2 to 3 round bursts without meaning to

I was shooting the Superstition Mountain 3-gun match last weekend in Mesa Az. One of the guys on my squad had his gun double several times. twice on one stage. We were talking about it later. He said it's a match trigger set to about 2 lbs and it was doubling by bumpfiring itself. You can't get your finger off the trigger fast enough to prevent this from happening when the triggers are set very light.

Any trigger under 2 pounds can go full auto.

full auto or bump fire? big difference.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

Thats what I'm thinking ... 1.5 lbs is pretty lite for a 2-stage trigger.
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

Sandbagged on a bench when it went full auto. Held tightly.

It's a 2 stage. You have to back off your finger all the way & then come back into the 1st stage, every shot.

A lot of serious bench rest shooters use Jewell's set to 1 1/2 to 2 oz and have no problems.
