Aggravating Trap55! Would you refinish?

This .22 has had a good life with me, it gas been in many * hunts, small game, hikes, fishing, used as a truck gun, plinker, gopher buster and many other uses as a "utility gun" it has been buried in mud, under water and tons of other accidental abuses and to this day will still hit a gopher at 50 yards and has never had a fail to fire or jammed up, absolutely no problems at all!!!

However as you can see the use and abuse of this gun has caused serious asthetic damage but in no way hampers performance. I bought this gun from a former member InterstatePawn many years ago on GB and it has served me well. Had it out this weekend popping gophers with it and it still shoots like a dream.

Question is do I spend the money for a refinish that will never equal the origin Dan Wesson finish or should I just steel wool the rust and oil it?

And no, I would never purplosly do this to a gun, laziness and being used as a utility/tool over the years has harmed it along with PA muggy summers not helping.

Yes, I am ashamed [:o)]

Is she Nickle or Chrome? Looks like some fine steel wool may do the trick.
Up to you but I think i'd go the steel wool way..

Don't use steel wool use the Big frontier 45 rust removal pad and kroil.

    http://www.big45.com/

    They sell them on GB

And to answer your question; No I would not refinish. I would clean the rust oil it and enjoy it like you have.

I will second the Kroil. Have not used the pad may need to try it.

I was going to have a guy here blue one of My S&W but got side tracked and never did. And when I went back his store had closed up(very bad location I found him by Accident). He did the Bluing for Dan Wesson.

Too late for the DW, but can't you afford an oily rag to wipe down your firearms after you use them?

    That's sad.

some guns are just meant to be used as a tool. I love it[;)] Shoot the fooey out of it, them fix it up if you want to. I would just toss it back in the truck and leave it there if it was mine. Oakie

    Lose the rust.

Everything else is a great story to be told or as my Dad would say "It has character".

You missed my point by a country mile. Oily firearms DON'T rust. That's the point, dog boxes or not.

But hey, it's not mine and if you're happy, there ya go.
