AR builds

I'm thinking about buying a lower and building one up. So how hard is a Ar build? Is it basically dropping parts in or is there alot of drilling and buffing down to do? Much trouble shooting, or just throw it together?

Thanks in advance. I'd be easier to get by my wife buying parts here and there instead of slapping down a chunk of change at once.

Getting the parts to do my first AR build here soon. I figured it would be a nice and fun little hobby. [:)] I am planning on assembling the lower, stock, and then slapping the assembled upper onto the lower. I know it isn't a complete build, but until I get the money to get the tools, that is what it will be.

Anyways, I just bought my first 2 stripped lowers(Lauer Custom Weaponry made right here in Chippewa Falls, WI) and am looking for some suggestions on a nice affordable upper. I want my first build to be a .223 with a 24" bull barrel. No need for a handle, just going to mount a 3-9 or 4-12 scope on it.

I was actually just looking that over haha. From the tutorial at top it looks like you don't have to modify much if any.

Same thing, but for big boys [:D]
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.

It has been done by many,(probably a few who shouldnt have) but with a few tools and knowledge readily avaliable here and AR15.com there wont be any hang-ups.

I gained my AR building experience more with the erector set toy if you remember that one.[:D]

The build is easy! Except for shooting the detent spring across the room 7 times and finally giving up and using a bic pen spring.

start to finish it took me one hour, and 3 hours looking for the detent spring! ar15.com was my saving grace! Great advice and help!
