in 2008.

That's enough to arm the armies of China and India COMBINED.

Obama: gun salesman of the century.

If those 12.7 million guns averaged just $200 each that would amount to over $2.5 billion in sales! I would not mind boosting my own chunk of that sales money.

Yep...and the Democrats would like to do away with our market all together...think of the impact on our broken economy.

If just 20% of those 12.7 million were "assault rifles" that's 2.54 million of those guns out there that weren't before.

Maybe the anti-gun folks in D.C. will see the numbers and realize it would be poltical suicide to ban firearms.

I think most politicians are aware of this.

And people wonder why ammunition is in such short supply.

It's not enought, we need the numbers to increase to epidemic porportions. We need sells in the 25m range to really make it known that gun owners are serious.

I've tried my best to make a significant contribution to those numbers.[:D]

The Browning is nice, but I NEVER saw a Model 30, and at one time my late brother was a SERIOUS S&W collector...had 300 +/- at one time, and he never had a Model 30..what .32 is it, S&W Long?

Way cool, looks in NIB condition too..

To me, that's the sad underlying theme here; that a quasi-tyrannical Federal Government with Obama as its face, has caused this, when people should have been arming up for decades for the same reason they are now.

Government has merely accelerated the pace of their march toward totalitarianism under this current regime. This path was taken long ago and has been continued under Repub & Dem rule ever since.

PBJloaf...... Yes, the model 30 is .32 S&W Long caliber. Its a 30-1 made about 1975. The model 30 was made from 1957 to 76. Prior to that it was the .32 Hand Ejector.

This one might be the first one I have encountered. I can't recall ever seeing one of these at the auctions.

I read that 4.5 million firearms were bought just since November of 2008, and over one billion rounds of ammunition.

I think it' a good bet that substantially more than 20% of the guns were "assault rifles," judging by the fact that several dealers I've talked to said that their sales of long guns were almost exclusively "assault rifles."

Im not sure but think that private sales would nearly double that number?

Are these numbers for new rifles and pistols or just registrations?

I'm waiting for my made in montana rifle....

The thing about private sales is that it is just a redistribution of guns already in private hands rather than new guns going from maker to dealer to consumer, so private sales don't really alter the total number of guns available for private use, just the identity of the new end user.

Must be one of the top investments in 08 & 09. I tried to do my share of investing along with apparently millions of others.[:D] But the bad news is last week while going to my favorite island to do a little target practicing, my boat sprung a leak and sunk to the bottom of Lake Pend oreille.[:(] All I have left is my Pellet pistol. Guess I got to do some more investing,[:0] But with the economy and all, that might be hard to do.[:(]

I just read that most major insurance companies will not insure boats if:

    1. You own weapons
    2. You are a member of the Gunbroker forums

Not totally true.If a gunowner that has 50 guns sells 1 or 2 to a person that has never owned one until the big scare, then that would add another fresh gunowner to the mix[:D]Wich is more than likely the way its happened with panick buying.quote:Originally posted by nemesisenforcer

Even this poor college student bought a gun last year. $600 for a Glock 23 Homeland Defender Edition, with 4 mags, a speed loader, a Glock taclight, and Trijicon night sights.
