Walking around the gun show this morning before it opened, another vendor shows me this old Remington that he acquired earlier in the show. He asked me if I knew anything about it, and I told him I had never seen one before, but my boss (who is a collector of old firearms) might be able to figure it out.
It turned out to be an 1871 (I believe) Remington Model 5 in 7mm. The furniture was in beautiful condition, and the steel had a nice even patina to it. My boss spent about an hour or so finding out exactly what it was and had me check the auction side to find out about how much they're going for right now, and he ended up buying it.
