My son just received his official appointment offer notification to the US Air Force Academy today. As my retirement from the military in mid-April 2007 draws near, he starts his new endeavor in late June 2007.
He wants to major in aerospace/aeronautical engineering and hope to have the opportunity to be a fighter pilot.
My wife and I are excited and worried at the same time . but certainly are proud parents.

I hear that's a pretty good school. Congratulations. [:)]
Yes it is, USAFA's aerospace/aeronautical engineering program is #2 and USNA's (his 2nd choice) is #3 [}:)].
Congratulations, I know you are proud and worried at the same time. I wish him luck with his degree choice. There is a world of opportunity in the field. My son got his aerospace degree at KU with a NROTC scholarship. My wife's proudest moment was when she got to pin his wings on after his flight training.
Can't wait to have the same opportunity. Thanks.
Congratulations! And tell him to start running NOW- Academy is on the North side of Colorado Springs, at about 7000 ft above sea level. Thin air takes some getting used to- so start working out NOW!
He's a competitive swimmer and practices 8000-10,000 yards a day but will have to work more on weight training and running after the Short Course State Championship in March. Thanks for the advice.
