Hi everybody, there was someone hear earlier this week asking about a good 17hmr to buy. I went to the range yesterday to figure out which ammo had better groups. I have a marlin with the bull barrel and plain wood stock. I was able to shoot a little over one inch groups at one hundred thirty yards. I don't think that will be to bad for my upcoming praire dog hunt in oregon. Any way I don't know if this info is helpful to anyone, but sometimes the less expensive gun's do just as good. Have a great day.

Just got in from the range and had a good time with the new 17cal. [8D]great litte shooter, [:(!] the wind was blowing so the 150yard shots wheren't that great[:0] but at 50 yards I was putting the hole where I wanted them.[:D]

Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

how does it compare to the 22 mag. would it make a good coyote gun or not. what kind of range are they good out to for varmint and predators like coyote. hows ammo prices. over all is it a good round. i want to get a new coyote gun and i'm really thinking about the 17 hmr.

on the topic of these, does anyone offer an open sight bolt action 17hmr? All I've seen are bull barelled automatics or bolt actions, and I already have two 22's with scopes on them. Those Savages sure do look nice though!

...Marlin, or savage...NICE trigger on Savage,...but love the iron sight on almost all Marlins...[;)]
