I know there have been a few topics about snakes lately, and it seems I have seen my share as well..
Classic and I went to an outdoor flea market today and it was hot...way too hot...while we were there, we ran across a couple of young ppl who had a snake and was selling some others....
I had never seen a snake like the one the guy had...god was it pretty....had a lot of pink on it, and pinkish tinge, and yes I hold snakes and pet them...this one was very loving, very docile...its some kind of boa I think and if any one comes up with the name (he dog?) I know I would recognise it....
I cant understand why ppl say snakes are slimy, they arent...they ARE very soft, very smooth to touch and pet...

Looking for love in all the wrong places.
Blood Pythons are emphatically not "loving." Most will eat your face off. I would guess one of the many color variants of corn snake.
Yeah, like it or not, snakes, in fact all reptiles, are emotionless, mindless, pieces of moving flesh. It is way off base to describe any of them as being "loving."
it's going to slither into your bedroom at night and bite your nose!
not if I get to my gun and flashlight first.

In point of fact that is incorrect. They are not emotionless nor mindless, please don't confuse them with Republicans. Snakes have the same limbic brain as you or I and are capable of many of the same emotions. How those emotions are expressed is another matter. They are also not nearly as dumb as you might imagine. They are well able to distinguish their keepers from other people, and they learn routines. We commonly train them to move from an exhibit to a holding cage while the exhibit is cleaned and back again. Considering that many of the reptiles have been around nearly 300,000,000 years, they haven't done all that badly.
That said, in my experience snakes are more interested in human body heat than human warmth. By nature they are solitary predators, not social animals, and while what Beth experienced in the way of non-aggression, perhaps gentleness from a snake, probably is not experienced by the snake, at least, as loving.

Well, from reading the Bible I have learned that snakes have carerlessly lost the ability to speak.[;)]
be careful, if you pet them long enough they will spit on you[:D]
They may not, but the old Horny Toad will. Blind you if his aim is good.
I have to support He Dog in the belief that reptiles recognize their keepers. I have seen this firsthand when keeping a rather large Reticulated Python Python reticulatus. He was purchased by me from a girl who had raised him from hatch. He was particulary fond of females. I don't know if it was pheremones they put off or what, but would become very calm in the hands of a female.
Once while feeding him I was placing a food item in his enclosure and he came across the space at me with mouth open, then as if recognizing me, closed his mouth and laid down.
Now, the 300,000,000 year thing, well, we'll just agree to disagree and move on.[;)]
