...distant POOOUMP of shots fired at deer at this time of year? Even when I've not been able to hunt, I've enjoyed hearing the efforts, perhaps successful, of others in the distance. Where I am now, all I hear is traffic, sirens, and the thud of bass systems in ghetto rides. [:(]

when we lived in the country i had mixed opinion from hearing the shots, half of your opinion mixed with some sadness because i know to many guys that couldn't make a clean shot on a deer if it was the size of an elephant at 20 yards

I love hearing it, it's music to my ears, and the sound of Freedom.

I live in the city and hear no shots. Someday that will change drastically. [xx(]

I WISH I had heard shots this afternoon, because four of my buddies were hunting with me on my property. But none of us saw any deer.

I do enjoy hearing my neighbors shoot out here, twelve miles from town. I can often tell the difference from afar between the sounds of shotguns, rifles, and pistols; and sometimes I recognize the rich, resonant boom of a black powder arm. It all sounds like freedom.

Was visiting my girlfriend late this afternoon, and while we sat in the dining room enjoying our adult beverages, we hear it....
    "POOOUUP"
Her hubby bagged one from their back deck....
Yeah, life in the country sucks....

I almost never hear shots, but I have heard this: Multipul shots from several hand guns reporting the demise of a bank robber, three or four shots around 2:30 AM reporting the murder of an innocent person, Various reports from different areas means its New Years. [xx(] Life is the city does suck.

Most of the ones I hear, are just neighbors sighting in their rifles, or the kids out shooting their 22s. Or me sighting in something. [;)]

    Not much hunting close by.

I never hear the shots of those who are hunting, but I live just over a mile from a public shooting range so I hear constant shooting 5 days out of the week[:p]

I live in a township where you can`t shoot firearms so we don`t here much shooting. As a result we have tons of deer.Had a bunch in the back yard on Thanksgiving afternoon. One was a nice little 8 point that spent the afternoon guarding his girlfriend. He stayed in the yard till it was too dark for me to see.He must have gotten what he wanted as he didn`t return with her in the morning.

It`s still dark ,but I can see one doe at the bird feeder right now.
